About Karin Sabin


Filmmaker

Karin Sabin is a comedy filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California and Sydney, Australia. Her work as a screenwriter, director, and producer extends across major studio level and independent projects in feature film, documentary film, and network TV series.

Trained at the American Film Institute Conservatory in LA, she earned her Master's degree in Screenwriting and was selected as the official AFI nominee for the prestigious Humanitas Prize in Comedy.

She is also a graduate of the Directors Guild of America program, where she worked on-set as a DGA Assistant Director in training on major network Emmy® Award-winning comedy television series in LA including 'The Office' (NBC) and 'New Girl' (FOX).

Currently she is directing Comedy Is Alchemy (2026), a documentary film at the intersection of comedy and psychology, while also developing a slate of original narrative comedy feature films as a writer-director.

Her hometown is St. Louis, Missouri. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film Production & Screenwriting from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where she graduated summa cum laude with highest honors as the Valedictorian of the Film Division.

She is the founder of Funnyheart Films, a production company specializing in character-driven comedy.
